About Cameron&

I’m Dawn Cameron. I’ve done many different things over the course of a long career. Though I’ve worked for many organisations and on many and varied projects, there have been some unifying themes:

  • l remain fascinated by evaluation, by which I mean I want to know what works, how, why and under what circumstances.
  • I like learning. I learn most from the people I work with and for.
  • I am bothered about things being fair inclusive and equitable.
  • I have found that the people we hear from least are oftentimes the people whose thoughts matter most.
  • Measuring impact is important and we can measure impact lots of different – and valid – ways.
  • No project is perfect. Some things will work; others won’t. The best projects understand and embrace this.

Cameron& works in the arts, culture and heritage sectors doing evaluation, research, project development, stakeholder consultation and project management.

I’ve worked in the arts and cultural sector for many years. I started out working in audience development and went on to specialise in evaluation and programme management and research, much of it through the Armstrong Cameron partnership. Amongst my clients are:

  • Wellcome Collection
  • Engage (the National Association for Gallery Education)
  • Royal Armouries
  • Robert F Kennedy Human Rights
  • FACT
  • Leeds Playhouse
  • Ilkley Literature Festival
  • Royal Literary Fund
  • Opera North

Cameron& is essentially me and others, some of whom I know and have worked with and others whom I don’t yet know. If you’re in the latter category, get in touch and let’s have a chat.

Our work is delivered in line with a set of ethics and values

  • We aim to develop collaborative and supportive methods of working with clients, their stakeholders and with participants who have given their time to programmes of work;
  • We work with clients to agree clear reporting mechanisms and regular communication on progress;
  • We actively promote working methods which themselves exemplify our commitment to equality, fairness and social justice;
  • We are open to and welcoming of constructive feedback on our professional practice
