Dance School: Duck Soup Films

I’ve just completed the evaluation report of Dance School – a TV production commissioned by Channel Four and developed by Leeds-based Duck Soup Films. The production aims both to provide high quality entertainment that can be sustained in the long term and provide embedded vocational training opportunities for non-traditional entrants to the TV and film sector.

The purpose of the evaluation was to enable those involved to reflect on process and consider the extent to which the project’s ambitions had been achieved.

It was interesting and enlightening to apply and adapt the evaluation strategies I’ve used in the subsidised and not for profit sectors to a commercial venture and, of course, to learn more about the cut and thrust TV production post covid 19. I have personally leaned a great deal and hope that the learning which emerged from the project will have an impact on future ventures of this type.
